Disaster Relief Response
The recent rains have brought both blessing and hardship. Many local families have suffered significant loss. In an instant their worlds have gone from normal day in day out duties and routines to calamity and chaos, anything but routine. This is one of the realities of living in a broken world, blessing and calamity live side by side. Our hope in the redemptive and restorative work of Christ not only gives us hope for the future in the world to come, where Christ will make all things new, it also gives us hope for the here and know. When we respond to disaster with a worshipful response of blessing to those in need.
We have been made aware of several local needs and are continuing to hear of more families in need of help in this difficult time. Everything from the basic needs of food and water to temporary shelter are coming to our attention, as well as financial help with demolition and repair costs.
Many have asked "how can we help financially?" "We are physically unable to clear brush or remove sheetrock, but we want to help." We have set up a fund for local disaster relief. If God is leading you to help vetted local families, here is a secure way to give through our online giving to "Disaster Relief."
If you are unable to give, you can still provide significant help to these families in need.
- Pray for God's protection and provision for them as they navigate these difficult times.
- Serve. Check the CITY to see how, when and where you might lend a hand.
- Look for opportunities to be a blessing to those in need.
I know this need and response comes at one of the busiest times of the year for many of us, the end of school and the beginning of summer. Schedules are often more chaotic and yet the busyness and chaos of our schedules is pretty minor compared to the needs they are experiencing.
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith." Galatians 6:9-10
