Judges 7-9 | Gideon to Abimelech
What Is God Saying In This Passage?
In Judges 7:1-8, God directed Gideon and his soldiers through an unusual screening process which reduced his fighting men from 32,000 to only 300 men. The reason: "In order that Israel may not boast against me that her own strength saved her" (7:2). Gideon obeyed God, and with 300 men God gave Gideon and his men the victory over the Midianites. In this passage I learn that God will not share His glory with another. In addition, God wants His people to know that their strength lies in their God, not in their numbers.
How I Plan to Prayerfully Obey What God Says:
God wants me to always be clear that spiritual advancement - whether in my personal growth or whether in church growth-comes from Him. Lord, I will be quick to give you the praise for each and every advancement. God I love the times you have led our church to attempt big things that only You can pull off and for which only You get the praise. Lord, continue to build faith and courage in me and in HCBC like you were building courage in Gideon. I know you can save by few as well as by many.
